The Best Places to Walk Your Dog in Portland

There is no shortage of places to explore with your pooch in Portland, so we’ve narrowed it down to our five favorite parks to walk with your dog.

In case you didn’t know, January is National Walk Your Dog Month and February 22nd is National Walking the Dog Day — so, what better way is there to celebrate than by checking out one or all of these fantastic places to walk your pooch in Portland?

Forest Park This is a truly beautiful and expansive park located in the Tualatin Mountains west of downtown Portland. With over 80 miles of trails to explore, you and your furry friend will have plenty of room to roam. The park is home to a variety of wildlife, so be sure to keep your dog on a leash at all times to ensure the safety of both your pet and the wildlife.

Tom McCall Waterfront Park (pictured above) Located along the Willamette River in downtown Portland, this is a popular spot for both locals and tourists alike. The park features a paved path that is perfect for a leisurely walk with your dog, and there is also a large grassy area where you can play fetch or have a picnic. The park is well-maintained and offers beautiful views of the river and the city skyline.

Powell Butte Nature Park This park, located in Southeast Portland, is a great place to get some fresh air and enjoy nature with your dog. The park features more than six miles of trails that wind through a natural area, and is home to a variety of birds and other wildlife. The park also offers great views of Mount Hood and the surrounding area, making it a perfect spot for a scenic walk with your dog.

Laurelhurst Park Located in the Laurelhurst neighborhood of Portland, this park is a popular spot for dog lovers. It features a large grassy area as well as a paved walking path, and there is even a separate fenced-in area for dogs to play off-leash. The park is well-maintained and offers a nice, peaceful atmosphere for a walk with your furry friend.

Sellwood Riverfront Park This park, located in the Sellwood neighborhood of Portland, is a great place to take your dog for a walk along the Willamette River. The park features a paved path that is perfect for a leisurely stroll, and you can watch the boats go by as you enjoy the fresh Portland air with your pooch.

As you know, taking your dog for a walk is a great way to get some exercise and spend quality time with your furry friend.
